BOARD IMMERSION PROGRAM
Immersion is step 2 of "Leadership Discernment" and Kawan's internship as the official pipeline into Executive Board leadership for the subsequent year.
While Immersion is not required to join Board, those who participate are more than poised as successors. Faith and spirituality are big components as we, the current leaders of Kawan, hope to foster capable leaders to lead the Pilipino Catholic community.

PILLAR DESCRIPTIONS
Immersion's five principles comprise components fostered by the Fellowship Chair:
Faith Reflection
Includes individual and group discussions grounded in Christianity that reflect on the State of Catholicism. Allows Discerners the opportunity to reflect upon their own relationship with and growth in the faith. Primes them as potential spiritual leaders of Kawan.
Mentorship
Involves individual or multiple pairings of Discerners with current Board members. Allows for a sense of apprenticeship or tutelage to "show the ropes" to students potentially interested in succeeding the current leadership the following year.
Board Shadowing
The means by which Discerners are able to sit-in and observe Board Meetings. Like in other internship programs, interns learn best by being a part of the process; observing Board Meetings allow Discerners to assess the current board dynamic and determine if and how they will lead.
Leadership Dialogue
Comprise conversations that allow Discerners to reflect upon (1) the State of Catholicism in the Philippines and amongst Pilipino-identifying people and (2) their capacity to commit to the position in the subsequent year. These talks prevent the potential of overcommitment and burnout.
Application
Is a process that allows Discerners to participate in current administrative functions and project planning. Aside from observation, another good internship teaching method is applied practice. The Board will provide Discerners the opportunity to be involved or spearhead their own programs.
